December, 2000
Dear Santa,
I have done my best to be a very good boy this year. I have spread
the Mustang gospel far and wide and have done a few good deeds along the
way. Therefore, below you will find my Christmas list. There is no
particular order of preference; any one or more of the items will suffice in
making me deliriously happy for the coming decade or more.
A Shelby Mustang GT350R. I need something to occupy my weekends. Vintage
racing seems like a worthwhile way to pass the time.
A 1969 Mach 1, preferably one with a 428 engine but I won't be picky.
Black, red or blue please.
A 1969 Boss 302. For those weekends when the GT350R is unavailable, or I
feel the need for a fast trip to the grocery store.
A 1977 Cobra II, highly modified for drag racing. I figure the smaller II
with a 351W will make a dandy platform to cut my teeth on the quarter
mile.
A particular 1979 Indy Pace Car. For something understated during a night
out on the town.
A 1985 GT350 turbo convertible. Just because I think the limited edition
is cool and they only made a few hundred turbo convertibles.
A 1993 SVT Cobra. My heart's desire. Now, I'd really like a teal one,
but black or red will do. Please make it stock and unmodified!
A 2000 Cobra R. I realize that this is rather unrealistic, what with only
300 of them being made and all. But, if you happen to have one, I'll be
more than happy to take it off your hands. I won't even grouse about it not
having a radio!
Lastly, a 2001 GT convertible. One with those bitchin' new retro-styled
wheels! Any color as long as it's not green. I would like to specify a
5-speed if at all possible.
Santa, I realize that budgetary concerns will limit what you can bring and
that your bag will only hold so much, even using the latest in
miniaturization technology. So I will not be disappointed if you do not
bring me everything on my list. Whichever one or two you happen to have
laying around will do.
Thank you for taking the time to read my letter. I look forward to
looking in my garage on Christmas morning.

From myself , Liz, Brandon, and everyone in Island Classic Mustang Club, we would like to wish you all happy holidays
and a joyous new year.
Apologies to Ian Chapman for stealing his idea. Well, it's not exactly the
same, just really close. Close enough to cause legal problems if he weren't
a really cool guy. But since he is a really cool guy, he'll just laugh and
harass me about it unmercifully.
Dave
