Mustangs on the Waterfront
Port Orchard, WA - July 30, 2024
See the Pictures!

On Sunday, July 30th the Kitsap Mustang Club held it’s 12th Annual Mustangs on the Waterfront show in beautiful Port Orchard. The weather was a gorgeous 88 degrees on the water and a cool breeze was blowing off the sound. The Good Humor man made a killing.

Dan and Jan drove directly to Port Orchard from Ferndale while Jim and Dave planned to take the Port Townsend ferry. Unfortunately, when they arrived at the dock, they were told that the early ferry was not running. They decided to soldier on and took the boat from Clinton to Mukilteo and drove down through Tacoma and over the Narrows Bridge. This resulted in a late arrival but, as they say, better late than never.

The location of the show could not have been better and the KMC’s organization was excellent. There was plenty of room for the cars and a KMC member was right where you needed to have them to tell you where to go with your car. There were many familiar faces at the show and a good time was had by all.

Around 1:30, Nick showed up! Again, better late than never. Unfortunately none of our cars took a trophy but Jim did win a very nice "Mustang" fender cover. Dave was envious.

After the show, our little troupe headed north across the Hood Canal bridge towards the Port Townsend ferry. Along the way there was an unfortunate encounter with an impaired driver. This had a happy ending when the Washington State Patrol took care of business. Support your local police!

[Editor’s Note: Dave must have been tired when he wrote this. There’s more to this story than Dave decided to tell. After crossing the Hood Canal bridge, an idiot driving an import pickup truck attempted to pass Jim and Dave, oblivious to oncoming traffic which was pulling to the shoulder. Dave slammed on his brakes and pulled to the shoulder himself to give this moron room to get back into the northbound lane. After a couple cellular phone calls to the State Patrol to report this scary infraction, a Trooper pulled up behind our three-car caravan in short order. After a few miles, we decided to pull over and let the Trooper pass. A couple miles later, we passed the Trooper who had caught up to the bonehead driver and pulled him over. The remainder of our trip was uneventful.]

All in all, Mustangs on the Waterfront was a very enjoyable experience and we will be sure to go again next year.
